Object Detection in Indoor Scenes Using Log-Polar Mapping

چکیده
In this paper a system that successfully detects stationary objects in indoor scenes is presented. The doors and ceiling lamps have been chosen to be detected in the initial phase of our system. The scene was divided into four diierent regions. The edges resulting from the walls/ceiling and the walls//oor intersections are the boundaries that separate the diierent regions. The use of the log-polar mapping transforms the problem of nding four edges of unknown orientations, that separated the diierent regions, into nding four horizontal edges. The log-polar map was performed such that it possesses the varying resolution property. The objects were detected using model-matching in the log-polar domain. The varying resolution property of the mapping simpliied the model-matching problem. The detection (of edges and then objects) was very fast due to the small size of the log-polar image (64 64) pix-els.

Centering peripheral features in an indoor environment using a binocular log-polar 4 DOF camera head
This paper describes a hardware / software system that successfully detects certain stationary objects in an indoor scene. The system uses a four degree of freedom pan-tilt-verge stereo camera head (built in-house) coupled with an inexpensive hardware image processor. A log-polar (LP) image mapping facilitates the detection of oor-wall-ceiling boundaries. The mapping also substantially reduces ...
متن کاملVisual Tracking using Kernel Projected Measurement and Log-Polar Transformation
Visual Servoing is generally contained of control and feature tracking. Study of previous methods shows that no attempt has been made to optimize these two parts together. In kernel based visual servoing method, the main objective is to combine and optimize these two parts together and to make an entire control loop. This main target is accomplished by using Lyapanov theory. A Lyapanov candidat...
متن کاملOnline multiple people tracking-by-detection in crowded scenes
Multiple people detection and tracking is a challenging task in real-world crowded scenes. In this paper, we have presented an online multiple people tracking-by-detection approach with a single camera. We have detected objects with deformable part models and a visual background extractor. In the tracking phase we have used a combination of support vector machine (SVM) person-specific classifie...

Doors are a significant object for the visually impaired and robots to enter and exit buildings. Although the accuracy of door detection is reported high in indoor scenes, it has become a difficult problem in outdoor scenes in computer vision. The reason may lie in the fact that such properties of a simple ordinary door such as handles, corners, and the gap between the door and the ground may n...
متن کاملEstimation of Distance for Detection of Obstacle Using Complex Log Mapping
In this paper, a new method is proposed to measure the distance from the camera to an object’s surface with arbitrary digital images. The method uses two images which are taken at two camera positions while moving the camera along its optical axis. The distance between the two camera positions is assumed to be known. The distance from the camera to the object is computed by calculating the rati...
